I colori in inglese
La parola “colore” in inglese è molto simile all’italiano. Tuttavia, a seconda di dove ci si trova, cambia il modo in cui si scrive: in Inghilterra, Australia e Nuova Zelanda e Canada si usa “colour”, con la “u”, mentre negli Stati Uniti si usa “color”, senza la “u”.
Per quanto riguarda invece i nomi dei vari colori in inglese, alcuni ricordano il termine italiano e sono più semplici da ricordare (ad esempio “blue”), mentre altri sono completamente diversi e richiedono un maggiore sforzo mnemonico (ad esempio “yellow” e “green”). Ecco una lista dei più conosciuti:

- Arancione: orange

- Rosa: pink
- Viola: purple

Per distinguere le varie sfumature di colore, dovresti conoscere tre aggettivi: “light”, che si traduce con “chiaro”, “dark” , che si traduce con “scuro”, e “bright”, che si traduce con “acceso/brillante”. In questo modo, potrai quindi distinguere ad esempio tra un “light blue”, che corrisponde al nostro “celeste”, un “dark blue”, che corrisponde al nostro “blu notte”, e un “bright blue”, ovvero un “blu acceso”.
